The organic 2017 Caiarossa (made with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Syrah and Alicante) displays a joyful, deep sweet core of damson plums, black raspberries and Christmas baking spices. Caiarossa always seems to maintain a great Italianate sensibility despite the international grape varieties and that manifests itself here as olive tapenade, dried herbs and black cherry. Tuscan breeding continues on the palate with fine chalky tannins, a zip of refreshing acidity and, at this nascent stage of its life, a warm toasty undercurrent of oak.
