Made with Nerello Mascalese grapes, considered the king of Etna’s native grape varieties. The grapes are grown on the Carranco estate, in vineyards that are about 50 years old.
Vinified in concrete tanks in keeping with the oldest tradition, and aged in large oak barrels, this wine expresses the volcanic personality of its homeland, an intense minerality and acidity, and a very elegant finish with light, silky and savoury tannins, accompanied by intense fruity scents alternating with more spicy notes.
The mouthfeel is strucutred and balanced, full-bodied and powerful with fruity hints of strawberry and cherry. Spiced notes of black pepper and rhubarb stand out as well. Lastly, tannin is savory and silky with a lovely length. With time, the wine gains gamey hints and tertiary aromas.
